The New Mexico Commission on the Status of Women

The New Mexico Commission on the Status of Women plays a vital role in advancing the rights and well-being of women across the state. We organize community forums, workshops, and statewide events that bring together women from a wide range of cultural, professional, and socioeconomic backgrounds. These gatherings provide opportunities for participants to learn from each other in issues such as economic opportunity, healthcare access, education, and safety, and work collaboratively on actionable solutions.

We actively partner with state agencies, nonprofit organizations, tribal governments, and local community groups to amplify their voices and highlight the critical work they do on behalf of women and families. By coordinating efforts, sharing resources, and elevating community-led initiatives, we ensure that the perspectives of women across New Mexico—especially those from underrepresented communities—inform our programs and policy priorities.

Our work also includes direct engagement with state legislators and local officials to advocate for specific policy reforms that address the needs of New Mexico women—such as expanding childcare access, strengthening workplace protections, and improving pathways to economic self-sufficiency so every woman has the support and opportunity to thrive.

Our Vision

The New Mexico Commission on the Status of Women envisions a New Mexico where all women and girls have equitable opportunities to be healthy, secure, and thrive without the harms of discrimination or bias.

Request for Proposals

The New Mexico Commission on the Status of Women is seeking a contractor to help us develop the NM Family Essentials Initiative—an effort to expand access to essential products like menstrual supplies and diapers for women, infants, and families across New Mexico.

This work will explore the real needs in our communities, identify existing resources and funding, listen to the voices of those most impacted, and help build a path toward lasting, equitable access.
