Celebrating NM Women

Crossroads for Women is a non-profit organization based in Albuquerque, New Mexico that provides comprehensive, integrated services to women who are impacted by addiction, homelessness, and trauma. They offer a range of programs and services that are designed to help women achieve their goals and build better futures for themselves and their families.

Places like Crossroads for Women are crucial services for women in New Mexico because they provide comprehensive support and care for those who are experiencing significant challenges. Women facing these difficulties often face a range of complex social, economic, and psychological issues that can be overwhelming and difficult to address without support.

Crossroads for Women offers a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment that can help women recover and rebuild their lives. They provide a range of essential services such as housing, behavioral health and addiction treatment, and employment and education assistance, which can help women to regain control over their lives and build a better future for themselves and their families.

Crossroads for Women has a targeted approach to hiring by offering employment opportunities to women who have completed their programs successfully. By hiring former clients, Crossroads for Women is able to offer job opportunities to women who may have difficulty finding employment due to their past challenges. Additionally, hiring former clients who have experienced similar challenges as the women they serve can offer a unique perspective that may enhance the services provided by the organization. It also allows these women to continue to receive support and resources while building a career. This approach not only benefits the women who are hired but also allows Crossroads for Women to cultivate a supportive and inclusive work culture that promotes personal and professional growth for its employees.

One of the unique aspects of Crossroads for Women is their focus on trauma-informed care. They recognize that many of the women they serve have experienced trauma in their lives, and they strive to create a safe and supportive environment that is sensitive to their needs. This approach is reflected in all of their programs, from housing to treatment, and helps to ensure that women receive the care and support they need to overcome the challenges they face.

Laura’s Place is an initiative by CRFW, aimed at providing a much-needed support system for justice-involved women in the International District of ABQ. In April 2022, CRFW acquired a 15-unit apartment complex, which promised to be a beacon of hope for these women, offering them a chance to reintegrate into society and embark on a new journey of independent living. However, in October of the same year, the project was hit by an unexpected setback when a fire caused significant damage to the apartment complex. Although no community members had moved in at that time, the damage was substantial and required extensive reconstruction efforts. Despite this hurdle, the team at CRFW has been working tirelessly to bring Laura’s Place back to life and we are delighted to announce that we are on track to house community members by mid-2023.

Crossroads Village’s southside presents an exciting opportunity to create a thriving therapeutic community, but to fulfill this vision, significant renovations are necessary. While the scale of these renovations presents a significant fundraising challenge and will require a considerable amount of time to complete, the end result will be more than worth it. Once the southside of the building is transformed, Crossroads’ staff and community members will be able to come together under one roof, fostering a more cohesive and community-driven approach to wraparound services. By providing gender-specific and trauma-informed care in a more efficient and unified way, Crossroads will be better equipped than ever before to help individuals on their journeys toward healing and wellness.

At Crossroads, we are thrilled to introduce our latest program, the Peer Drop-in Program (PDI). This innovative initiative is designed to serve an even broader population, providing vital services and support to individuals in need. Our PDI program offers an array of resources, including vocational counseling to help individuals build resumes and search for jobs. In addition, our Butterfly Boutique serves as a donation hub and community one-stop-shop for clothing, hygiene items, and home goods. PDI program participants can also access food boxes, attend groups, and receive case management services, if needed. We are proud to offer this valuable resource to the community and look forward to seeing the positive impact it has on individuals’ lives.

Overall, Crossroads for Women is an essential resource for women in Albuquerque who are struggling with addiction, homelessness, and trauma. Through their programs and services, they provide a pathway to recovery and a brighter future for women and their families. Their commitment to trauma-informed care and holistic support sets them apart and makes them a vital part of the community.
